Networking For Green

Advantages of Human Networking

1. Encourages communication: The better each node on a network understands the (a) resources available and (b) the needs within the network, the easier it is to make healthy human connections on the basis of opportunities for give & take.

2. Increases employment opportunities: Beyond the obvious (matching job openings within the network to someone who needs and can do the job), there are other smaller tasks and projects that people need, often pay for, might rather pay within the network (sometimes at a discount).Examples: Babysitting / child care; yard work; (shade tree) auto repair; animal sitting; carpentry; mending & sewing projects; house cleaning (the author's biz).

3. Encourages frugality by giving families multiple opportunities for exchanging things they own and no longer need for things they do. 'Gently used' items can be sold at a discount, or traded, or generously given away.Examples: The computer you upgrade from; baby furniture & clothes; working but excess household appliances. [Remember: reuse is the highest form of recycling.]

4. Reduces energy use: Within a healthy network, opportunities can be found for cooperating on the basis of opportunities & talent, with active members exchanging what they have or can do well or pooling human energy for worthy deeds.Examples: Ride sharing; meal sharing (different family cooks have different specialties); community recycling projects (pick up glass, newspapers, etc).

5. Increases general knowledge: There appears to be a natural human instinct for good-natured people to teach each other basic skills when the need becomes apparent. Often this happens within families, but neighbors, friends or a network of good people can also suffice. Example: Not everybody's mother / father was skilled in the kitchen, so many families eat out expensively, or eat at home poorly, for lack of basic cooking skills. Yet, there are many retired homemakers who would be happy to share their knowledge with an inexperienced young mother (or whoever), possibly in exchange for nothing more than friendship (or a bit of help with another project).

6. Encourages community by demonstrating the notion that humans who can find imaginative ways to cooperate inevitably raise the energy level, and potentially the prosperity, of every participating member of the network.

7. Potentially grows prosperity: A well organized active network, cooperating on worthy community projects (anything ecological might be an obvious choice) can find ways to capitalize on the PR potential of doing anything that's both (a) obviously worth doing and (b) large enough scale or noisy enough to be noticeable.

Calling: local artists, art lovers, earth loving businesses

Bella's Grove, GreenEra Clean Inc, and the Boise Recycling Active Involvement Network [BRAIN] is sponsoring an Earth Lover's Art Fair (sale/contest), to be held  Bell's Grove 913 Warren St Boise Idaho Prizes for the winner(s) have yet to be determined (depends on the sponsors). All artists who are able to use this opportunity to show their work to potential buyers will be the Real Winners. Bearing in mind the theme, here are general guidelines for the art (thus, the artists) we would like this event to promote.

1.At the very least, if using conventional art materials, the result should in some way promote love of nature, living in balance, an ecological theme such as recycling, etc.
2.If your skills and imagination allow it, we are specifically looking for art created from things in nature, or recycled and/or re-purposed materials.
3.Or if your method or the process of creating your art is demonstrably 'Earth Loving'.
4.Interested in participating? Unsure if your proposed art project fits? Contact Woventear or visit Bella's Grove.

If you, your business or organization would like to participate as a sponsor of the Earth Lover's Art Fair, contact Woventear of Bella's Grove or Jim McGill of GreenEra Cleaning. (You might also consider becoming a member of BRAIN.)

Chinese Medicine Physiology

You’ve heard it over and over from your Chinese Medicine doctor: “don’t eat or drink anything cold. Especially with ice!” What’s the rationale behind this? First, we’ll start with Chinese Medical theory and then conclude with Western Medical theory on why you shouldn’t consume cold food and drinks. And we’ll also see how the two medicines see eye-to-eye on this issue. In Chinese Medical physiology, the stomach is the first organ to receive food and drink and has been compared to a cauldron in which foods are “cooked” by the stomach fire. Because foods are “cooked” by the stomach fire, anything cold hinders this process. After it has been cooked, it then becomes “the pit where rotting and ripening occurs”. I know, it sounds pretty gruesome. We’ll see later how this process has a western explanation. In Western physiology, digestion first occurs in the mouth through chewing and saliva. It then proceeds to the stomach where enzymes and acids continue the digestive process. The key term we’re going to focus on is “enzymes”. Enzymes are biological catalysts and enormously speed up cell reactions. And in this situation, we’re talking about speeding up the digestive process without expending additional energy. Now, these stomach enzymes are influenced by temperature and pH (we won’t be talking about pH today). And guess what the optimal temperatures are for mammalian enzymes? The ideal is roughly body temperature (86-113 degrees Fahrenheit). So what happens when you have an iced tea, cereal with milk, ice cream or a frosty beer? The stomach enzymes react to the cold temperature and become sluggish and unresponsive. This dramatically slows down the digestive process and the body expends additional energy trying to break down foods. This can lead to fatigue/sleepiness after meals, bloating, stomach discomfort, belching and gas. What can you do to avoid this? One, don’t drink cold beverages. Instead of refrigerating or icing your favorite drink, leave it out and consume at room temperature. Two, if you do eat or drink something cold, try to combine it with something hot. For instance, have hot tea with your cold cereal or a hot soup with a salad. If you still have problems digesting cold foods or drinks, you may have to cut it out entirely until your body becomes stronger.

Energy is Energy...

I just recently read a specific post on another site that I want to talk about. I've changed it a bit, and won't name the person whose post it is, as the concept is practically universal, and I'd like to address that. Here's the post: "Enhance your energy. Everything is energy, Money is energy. Big money equals big energy." I see this type of thought posted everywhere, and felt it was time for me to really get into what this is saying, what it really means, how it effects us and what we need to change in our perceptions and thought to let go of this type of "limited thinking". Ok, I can hear you now saying "That doesn't sound limited to me" and that's exactly why I'm going to break this down and explain myself here. Just to be clear, the only thing I am going to really dissect, is the last statement. My idea is to bring some clarity to this kind of thinking. "Everything is energy". Indeed it is. That is a scientifically, physically and spiritually proven fact of this existence. If everyone simply acknowledged and stayed with that concept, then there would be fewer problems. However, we tend to modify simple concepts and make them into things that they are not and they end up being montrosities that we can't deal with, or go beyond. "Money is energy". Again, spot on. If everything is energy, then indeed that would include money as well. Now here's where it gets sticky. "Big money equals big energy". This is a great example of what I said above about our tendency to modify concepts. I'm going to tell you something now and I want you to hear me when I say this to you. Ready? Here it is: Energy is energy is energy is energy. It is what it is. You cannot make the energy bigger or smaller. You can add more of a type of energy to produce bigger results, and you can reduce a type of energy to get smaller results, but the base energy is the same. Always. Let me give you an example. If you take the energy of dynamite, its base energy is what it is. You cannot make its energy bigger. You can, however, create a bigger explosion by adding more of dynamites base energy together. Let's say that if one stick of TNT has a base energy of 10, by adding ten more sticks, you've increased the potential result of the explosion, but you still only have a base energy of 10. Just in this example, 10 times 10 base energy, which will definitely create a bigger bang, but you are not making the base energy bigger. The same is true with money. If one dollar has a base energy of 1, then a million dollars still only has a base energy of 1 but now it's times 1,000,000. Here's what I'm saying. If you can create one dollar, it doesn't take any more "energy" to create a million dollars. It's the same energy. Exactly the same. We, on the other hand, assign this incredible, mostly inconceivable amount of energy to any large sum of money, especially a million or more, and by doing so, make it near impossible for us to manifest it. It's us, not the "supposed energy" of the thing that makes it hard for us to give it to ourselves. We are the ones saying "Wow, a million dollars. That's gotta be hard to create." What a load of non-sense. In energy terms, it's no harder than creating a dollar, or heck, even a penny. It's all money energy, whether it's a penny found on the sidewalk or several million dollars won in a lottery. It's exactly the same. The ONLY difference is our perception of it. Change your money perception Today. Now. This very moment. Think, see and feel how easy it is to manifest a penny or a dollar into your life. I mean really experience it. We've all been given a penny or a dollar, even five dollars and more at some point in our lives. Now close your eyes and remember that time. Remember what it felt like; how you raised your abundance, even with single penny in your hand. Now shift that thinking, seeing, feeling and BELIEVING to a thousand dollars... a hundred thousand dollars... five hundred thousand dollars... a million dollars. You see? It's easy. Only we ever make it hard. Only we, not the energy, puts limitations on it. It is only ever our fear that keeps us from having what we want. Release that old programming. Let it go and in it's place, put in allowing. Put in permission. Put in forgiveness. Put in love. Now you can create anything. In my next post, I'm going to give you a tool that you can use to increase your inner abundance anywhere, at any time, for anything you want.
